Breaking Post-GC12 News! In July, 2012 the Northeastern and Western Jurisdictions of the United Methodist Churchboth passed resolutions affirming full inclusion of LGBT persons.
Through advocacy, grassroots organizing and education, the “Opening Doors to Equality” campaign will work to secure passage of a resolution at this year’s UMC General Conference which will strike the current discriminatory language in the Book of Discipline prohibiting the recognition and celebration of the relationships of our fellow gay and lesbian Methodists. Passage of this resolution will allow our UMC clergy to perform the pastoral care called for in their ordination vows and ensure that all who enter the doors of a United Methodist Church experience the unconditional love of Jesus.
